We sourced this dark red beauty from Serbia in 2024. We were happy to find this colour, which was common in the Netherlands but not so common elsewhere.

Deliveries in the Netherlands stopped in 1986. In several other European countries, deliveries and production continued as usual. In Slovenia, for example, they were built until 1993. They’re still quite common there and in surrounding countries.

With 8 million units, the R4 has surpassed the 2CV in production numbers. In other areas, they’ve also competed with each other since 1961, with prices split evenly between the two. Regardless, we like the R4 too!

A few years ago, it was repainted in its original colour; otherwise, it’s still largely original and in good condition. It’s only had 73,000 km to wear out, the last 4,000 of which were driven by a customer of ours in the Netherlands.
