A 1951 2CV A is quite unique. From the third year of production, with all sorts of nice specific details and the long roof. At one point, during a sloppy restoration, it lost its authenticity and collector’s value, and stood there looking a bit forlorn. We gave it a new life with a more powerful heart.

The original chassis had been replaced by a modern version. The mechanics were worn out and the bulkhead was full of holes. You look at it and think: this needs something completely different! The chassis offered possibilities for installing a more modern drivetrain, and we adapted the bulkhead accordingly.

Under the hood now houses a reconditioned 652cc engine instead of the 375cc it originally left the factory with. From 9 to 35 hp. Naturally, that also calls for a matching set of disc brakes and a more modern electrical system, so we added those as well. Almost everything under the hood is new or reconditioned. 

From a sad little duckling in a corner of the warehouse, it suddenly became a tough duck full of lust for life. A car that has become both endearingly classic and practical to drive.
