With 8 million units, the R4 has beaten the 2CV in production numbers. They have also competed with each other in other areas since 1961, where the medals are divided between both camps. Anyway, we like the R4 too!

In the Netherlands, deliveries stopped in ’86. Delivery and production continued in various other European countries, like in Spain. They drove around there quite a lot. We got this yellow beauty from southern Spain, near Malaga.

We fell in love with its shiny color and nice details, with a hint of the seventies. The interior also fits in perfectly with this. The people it was bought from said that they had had it for a long time, had had the sun-damaged paint renewed and that the mileage should really be read without a 1 in front of it.

Apart from the recently stated kilometers on the inspection report, we have no evidence of this, so we judge it on what we see; a nice, appealing little car that looks as fresh as its color in many places, and could use some attention to the body and technique here and there, so we will give it exactly that.

It may not be as quick as its GTL-brother with 1100cc, but its 850cc can also keep up with traffic quite nicely, in a relaxing way.

We are going to make it a Dutch resident and ensure that it is ready for a lot of driving pleasure.
