In ’68 the Mehari was introduced, a plastic car based on the chassis of the 2CV, or actually the Dyane. In the beginning they also shared that name, Citroën Dyane Mehari. The chassis was shortened slightly, a tubular steel frame was screwed onto it, to which ABS panels were attached with pop rivets. It can be that simple.

The Mehari was versatile. Easy to use as a fun mobile, without canvas roof. Or as a workhorse in the field, with a bale of straw in the back and the sides closed to protect against the rain. The canvas canopy and tubular frame were as easy to set up and take down as your camping tent, although that can also lead to marital strife for some. In this case, it is quickly resolved by the fun you have with the car.

This Mehari drove for a long time around the Vinkeveense Plassen and then in the east of the country. The chassis is perfect, as is the tubular frame. The mechanics are well maintained and of the most modern type, with disc brakes, so less maintenance. The plastic looks a bit weathered and used, but that invites limitless use. You can easily throw your belongings or your children in the back without worrying about a scratch or dent.

We deliver it with a fresh MOT, neatly maintained and a full tank of petrol. The canvas top is also included.
