Bleu Celeste
23.000 km

Around 2000, a Dutch enthusiast stumbled across an advertisement in La Vie de l’Auto, in which someone offered a new 2CV for sale. It turned out to be not one, but more than ten. We have to ask the finder again about the reason for putting away so many new cars; were they for his children or an investment. The fact is that the 2CVs went to the Netherlands and almost all of them found new owners there.

We have previously cared for 2CVs from this lot, all neatly used and usually with not very many kilometers on the odometer. This also applies to this car. Only 23,000 km since it had a Dutch registration in 2001, with almost 150 km on the odometer.

The delivery was made by Raspail garage in Levallois Perret, the birthplace of the French-produced 2CVs. It was serviced there on October 2, 1990, after which a registration was issued in the Nord department on November 20, where the cars were later stored. All this was a few months after the end of production in Portugal.

After arriving in the Netherlands, the cars were carefully kissed awake and prepared for use, with a 2CV-friendly explanation of how to enjoy them the longest. Garage Bertens then took care of it and, as evidenced by a stack of invoices, continued to do so until the Brabant-based family said goodbye.

The 2cv has been ridden with pleasure and has been neatly maintained, with various parts having already been replaced. No wonder, after all it was one of the cheapest cars on the market and intended for daily use. It is actually quite a miracle that so many have been saved. Thanks to loving owners who cherished them.

Are you going to continue cherishing this lovely 2cv?

By the way, one of the 2CVs, also a lavender blue one, stayed with the finder. He offered it for auction at the celebration of Citroën’s 100th anniversary. The 2CV with only 9km on the odometer raised more than €66,000. Not yet a record, but almost.
