This 2cv is still quite original. In its paint, details, the first painted license plate. But also in its dents, and completely authentic corrosion. Fortunately, the rust devil has struck selectively, so its beautiful patinated appearance should remain unchanged, in our opinion.

In early 1959 it was driven around Versailles, in the then Seine-et-Oise department, which was abolished in the sixties and merged into the Yvelines department, just west of Paris.

In ’89 a new Tax sticker was placed on the windshield, but otherwise there is no trace of its history, its Carte Grise once disappeared in the fireplace (or something like that). Fortunately, the Citroën archives were able to confirm that they actually built the 2CV, according to the certificate on February 16, 1959.

The exterior still looks very sympathetic, the interior could use some new fabric. However, underneath something more serious is going on. The chassis, floors and bulkhead are seriously rusted. The engine is also very tired and the rest of the technical parts are also in need of a lot of attention.

What to do?

Restore it completely to its original glory? With 12 hp engine and drum brakes, perhaps slightly enlarged with 533cc pistons and cylinders? Or is this the ideal starting point for a restomod; classic look, with more modern or even contemporary technique?

We regularly convert classic 2CVs to a 652cc engine, disc brakes and a galvanized chassis. Classic looks, but much more ease of use. We have also used modern electrical technology before, if you want to silently gather surprised faces around you.

The choice can be yours, until we make the decision ourselves and get started with it! The price? To be determined.
