Imagine storing a daily car, let’s say a Citroën C3 from 2013, in the shed. For later. There is a good chance that few people understand you. Yet this was done very often decades ago. Like with this Dyane. In ’81 it had already had two owners in Terneuzen, the latter decided to put it in the shed after some time. It only came out again in 2014. For the C3 in the example, this would be in 2057.

Do people now look at cars in a much more practical way, were they more devoted to them then? Were they more optimistic, was there just a lot more space or were people more forgetful? Thanks to such people, nice cars from years gone by still survive, after all, most contemporaries were scrapped within 10 years.

This Dyane was given a second life. It was found by someone from Zeeland who did not get around to his own plans and then sold it to a friend of ours. He wanted to keep the looks of the car as much as possible, with nice weathered paint and interior, but make it very usable .

The original 435cc engine required a lot of attention and was not known for its speed, so a more modern set of engine and gearbox was chosen, with 602cc and disc brakes. The floors were replaced as well.

It gave the whole family fun for 9 years, but lately it has been standing still for longer and longer in storage or on the street. So time for a new owner who will have fun with it again.

It drives wonderfully and has a smooth suspension. The roof is quite recent, we are giving it a full service and fix some small details. Then it will feel like stretching its legs again.
