Burton
One of our fellow villagers started building his own car, a Burton, in 2009. First, he disassembled the donor 2CV, then rebuilt the chassis and mechanicals.

Once that was finished, he picked up the two-tone polyester body in Zutphen and bolted it onto the chassis. In 2011, the result went to the RDW (Dutch Vehicle Authority), where it was recertified as a convertible.

He drove a few laps around beautiful North Holland, but the odometer stopped at just under 2,000 km. There was another classic car and a number of other hobbies that took up time. After that, due to circumstances, it sat idle for almost 10 years.

Now we’ve brought it back into the light outside its shed. A new battery and some fresh fuel were enough to get it moving again. We also installed a set of round tires, as they handle better than flat ones.

After we’ve carried out some other minor work and given it a new APK, it’s ready to go.
