Bijou
Never heard of it! We often hear that about the Citroën Bijou, an elegantly designed polyester car based on a 2CV. Not surprising, as only just over 200 were made, and only for the English market. But here we have one!

The 2CV didn’t really catch on in the United Kingdom in the 1950s, so the designer of the Lotus Elite designed a modern body. Made of the then-new material polyester, which allowed for smaller production runs. The brilliant chassis of the 2CV was used, but with its 12 hp, it proved considerably underpowered. The aerodynamics were better, but the weight was higher; it wasn’t a success.

This Bijou from the early 1960s roamed the European mainland for a while, where various owners began its restoration. It was easy to do, as the polyester body is complete and in good condition. The interior is also perfect. Apparently, the chassis and mechanicals weren’t, they disappeared at some point; a shame, because with it, the original identity disappeared.

A Dutch enthusiast bought it and agreed with the RDW (Netherlands Vehicle Authority) to mix it with the remains of his old 1982 2CV. So, it’s suddenly 20 years younger, but this also gives it the opportunity to solve the power problem by using the 602cc engine that comes with the 2CV.

A left-hand drive version of the dashboard was 3D-printed, making it a left-hand drive (LHD) Bijou. Unfortunately, the enthusiast couldn’t finish it. Now it’s here, ready for you to turn it into something amazing! The specific parts, like the windows, are included, so it’s really quite doable. Seize this opportunity!
