Ami 6 Break
Marie Louise drove the Ami for 33 years, from March ’66 until somewhere in ’99. She added a total of 82,000 km. In ’98 she had the car inspected in Perpignan – where she lived – where only a few minor issues were found. It is not clear whether the deterioration of the car or that of her health was the reason for parting, but at the end of ’99 the Ami ended up in the Netherlands.

It went to drive in the east of the country, in ’01 it was tinkered with by garage Jan Bonthond and in ’05 it was completely resprayed. In ’09 it changed owners.

He got busy with it around ’12 and ’13. The engine was tackled, the cylinder heads overhauled and all kinds of things around the engine were renewed. The counter was at about 124,000 km. So it had already driven quite a few kilometers in the Netherlands.

After this, the car was worked on a bit more, a tow bar was fitted, but not a lot of kilometres were added. In ’21, at approximately 128,000 km, a new owner was found. He regularly enjoyed the Ami but actually didn’t drive it enough; too many cars to divide his attention between. So now the decision was made to part with it, we are selling the Ami for him.

Because he hasn’t driven very much recently, the battery needed replacing, which we did right away. During the test drive, the brakes got better and better and the engine ran smoothly. However, it does occasionally have a cracking noise in 2nd gear and some other small work, which you can also just tackle yourself in the coming years. Constructively it is good, the Michelin tyres are recent, it looks very nice. In short, an Ami to gradually dot the i’s and cross the t’s yourself. Hence this take-away price.
