On 18 May ’71, Mrs Maraval ordered her new 2CV from dealer Pezous in Albi. At that time, she had the choice between a 2CV4 and 2CV6, she chose the slower 2CV4, probably because she already knew that she would only use it locally.

Mrs Maraval was handed the keys on 18 August, after the 2CV had been produced on 20 July. At that time, cars were given a delivery service at the dealer and a service after 1000 km. The oil was then changed and various things were checked. The maintenance booklet indicates that this 2CV had its service in May ’72 with only 80 km on the counter. Strange, and perhaps a indication of the following limited use.

Mrs Maraval drove it sparingly, about 1000 km per year, and did not really leave the neighbourhood. Even the maintenance was done by the neighbour across the street, a garage toutes marques. When she died in ’93, the son became the owner. He lived in a French overseas territory, but kept his mother’s shed to store the 2cv.

Eventually, the car came to us a few years ago via our network. With only 25,000 km on the counter. Many people appreciated the condition and the story of the car, but did not want to slow down to 21 hp.

We sold the car to a couple who thought it was absolutely fantastic, but 435 cc was indeed a bit undersized. The original drivetrain was mothballed, the car lived on as a 2CV6. With a completely overhauled 2CV6 block and matching gearbox. All tyres and the roof were renewed, everything to make it really usable. It was enjoyed for 11,000 km.

But sometimes things change in your life, as is the case here, which means that ones favourite 2cv can go to another enthusiast. Including all the original parts that have been preserved.

You rarely come across 2CV6s from the early 70s. I know, I am from 71 and I look for them with extra attention. This 2cv4/6 is the next best thing. Period-correctly converted, with the original parts preserved so you can always return to a slow life… Largely original, with a described history and – not unimportant – wonderfully nice to drive.
