We are selling this Sahara for one of our clients. He bought it a long time ago, in ’87. It was already beige then, as the photos from back then show, and it also had its sturdy front bumper. It remained in his shed for decades, until he put it back on the road in 2011. With a new coat of paint, in matte beige, as if it had just come out of the sand of the Sahara.

The Fahrzeugbrief indicates that it had an owner in Oldenburg in ’73, in ’76 someone in Hamburg bought it. The current owner came into its life in ’87, as mentioned, the car stayed in the same city. Where it hung out before ’73 is unknown. Given a few details, it seems to have been delivered new in Germany. The papers say that happened in ’63, but its chassis number says it is 2 years older. Sometimes a car that was discharged from government service was then put on a new registration, that could have happened here too.

In the past, the seats were made adjustable and the dashboard was modified. The owner also liked a bit of luxury and had the seats fitted with leather mats.

The original engines were once replaced by 2 more modern 18 hp models. We later fitted them with a set of 533 cc pistons and cylinders, which made it a much smoother car. The brakes and other drivetrain were also tackled at that time. Making it ready to drive.

It is no longer 100% original, but since it was modified in the 70s, we like to call it semi-period-correct. But above all, it is just a very cool thing with a look that suits its name!
