In 1978 the Acadiane succeeded the AK 400. The cargo area was the same size, only the cabin was more spacious at the front, creating more space for the driver and passenger. With the Ak 400, if you were a bit taller, you were fairly close to the steering wheel, now you could stretch your legs and you didn’t have to shift with your knee.

The Acadiane also had a better streamline and a slightly more powerful engine, so you could finally overtake a truck. The disc brakes also make it a bit more maintenance-friendly. Up to ’87 more than 250,000 copies were built, of which more than 8,000 ended up in the Netherlands.

They were mostly used commercially and not spared. So they worn out quickly. They could also rust like the best if you didn’t protect them against it. As a result not too many are left. This car is a positive exception. It was originally delivered in Holland and still exists!

A few years ago, it was thoroughly addressed and the a lot was replaced or repaired. It has also been repainted, in its beautiful original colour. The preparation for the painting wasn’t all that great, so there are Acas that look better in their paint. We really like the choice to spray it with a satin finish, it looks great on it.

We bought it from a befriended colleague, sold it to a foreign colleague and now have it back; soon with its original NL registration. If you are looking for a nice little camper, a means of transport to the forest to walk your dog or a nice company car for your trendy company; it’s in Wormer!
